151 years of darkness give way to a few bare bulbs and camera strobes. That may be stretching the truth a bit, but light is certainly a rarity above the lofty ceiling of the Methodist Church.
Three generations of the Van Lieu family explored the building's two roofs prior to the stabilization of the Greek Revival Pediment. The original 1823 roof is of a hip configuration (pitched front and rear as well as on the sides) The newer gabled roof was built over the original in 1849, leaving it nearly intact.
As the following photos will show, the two roofs and the ceilings are supported by a forest of timbers of varying sizes and effectiveness.
