Large iron straps bind the king posts to the beams that act as the bottom members of trusses. The beams extend across the full width of the sanctuary ceiling, some sixty feet.

Note the fine fit of the brace ends to the shoulders cut into the posts. Each of these intersections is mortised and tenoned.
