This is the end of a timber that runs like an outrigger from the old roof toward Centre Street. It was intended that this and others like it were to rest on a knee wall built on the edge of the roof and support the Greek Revival pediment.

Apparently the settlement of the column bases has caused the pediment to drop a bit, pivoting these timbers on the knee wall, and raising the inboard end of this one. A look under the end shows one large spike meant to secure it to the roof.
